When Ai Wrecks Ad Creative

From x.com/ariesnotebook

I have noticed examples where AI’s role in advertising raises questions about whether it improves creative or makes it worse. In October 2025, I connected big brands’ difficult year to tariffs and an unspecified “this,” then commented on Meta AI changing someone’s top ad. In May 2026, I praised a bizarre Chewy ad, even as the person who shared it wondered whether AI was running Chewy’s Instagram campaigns and ruining them.

On October 24, 2025, I wrote, “Big brands have been getting cooked this year. First tariffs, now this 🫠”. I was quoting @BryanECano, who said Meta’s AI had altered his top ad and included https://t.co/AxE6K2wVda. I did not explain what “this” referred to, what Meta’s AI changed, or what the image showed.

Later that day, I wrote, “Meta knows older people are swiping their cards on anything these days. It’s a 1000 iq move.” I was commenting on @BryanECano’s post about Meta AI doing something to his top ad, but I did not say how Meta knew its audience or clarify whether my “1000 iq move” comment was sincere or sarcastic.

On May 25, 2026, I called an ad for Chewy “Unironically banger.” The post I quoted was from @bulletproofkp, who said they had twice received ads in their Instagram feed from Chewy’s blue-check-verified account. They described an image of a quarter with maggots on it and asked whether AI was running Chewy’s Instagram ad campaigns and ruining them. Their post linked to https://t.co/rFju8GZpRZ; it did not answer their question.
