Awign S Journey And Gig Work Technology

From linkedin.com/in/thepraveen0207

On 2022-07-20, I wrote that technology’s growth and multiplier effect had enabled enterprises to create millions of employment opportunities in the gig economy. I described rising adoption of gig platforms as a reason technology was streamlining enterprise operations, especially the identification of gig partners and the deployment and management of payrolls. I said this use of technology helped enterprises stay agile, reduce TAT, and make their processes more efficient; the captured post does not define TAT or include the article URL.

On 2022-08-25, I described building Awign from scratch as an exhilarating, challenging journey as an industry pioneer without a frame of reference. I said a vision to address unemployment, begun six years earlier, had grown into a full-stack solution serving 100+ large marquee companies and 1mn+ registered gig partners. I described the fundraiser as an inflection point rather than a milestone, said Awign was still in its first innings, and expressed confidence that it could become the “AWS of Operations.”

I said Awign built a proprietary no-code/low-code technology stack to configure workflows without writing code. The platform was intended to make workflows highly configurable and reduce TAT; it let the team break complex enterprise work into simple tasks and manage gig partners’ discovery, deployment, and payroll. I contrasted this with the earlier need to develop new features for every incoming client, saying the current platform could cater to any project for any client. I also credited the platform with simplifying processes and helping increase efficiency, without giving measured performance figures.

On 2023-01-06, I described Awign’s six years of work building a complete product for work fulfillment and ensuring outcomes for clients. I announced that Awign was launching the product for outside customers, who could choose individual modules, combinations of modules, or end-to-end management. The post described this as Awign’s next step in work fulfillment; it did not give a separate launch date or define the guaranteed outcomes.

  • The product’s modules and capabilities were:

I described the platform as centered on people completing tasks, while also automating parts of the work. Awign’s AI systems had helped automate menu and bank statement digitization, calling transcription, and image recognition. Third-party government APIs supported background, ID, address, and criminal verification, as well as KYC and compliance checks. I gave no measured results for these systems, the allocation algorithms, or TAT reductions.

  • Discovery: find talent across geographies in India from a ready pool of 1.3mn+ gig partners; I said this further reduced TAT.
  • Assessment and training: set up in-app tests and training sessions, and conduct online interviews and webinars.
  • Onboarding and compliances: automate onboarding formalities and due diligence.
  • Workforce and task management: manage workers in real time, use allocation algorithms to allocate tasks efficiently, and provide task-level views and summaries.
  • Payrolling and taxation: handle payroll calculation, taxation, compliance, and disbursals.

I mentioned Awign in several posts, but these captures do not explain the company’s work, history, or technology. My profile lists my role as Founder and Engineer at Awign; see praveen sah linkedin profile.
