In March 2025 I posted a series of LinkedIn observations on the strategic shift of Indian consumer‑focused startups from growth‑at‑all‑costs to disciplined, retention‑centric, sustainable businesses.
Repeat purchase is product.
Retention, frequency, and NPS are more revealing than impressions and likes.
Spreading too wide, too early, dilutes focus.
Investors now want to see sustainable unit economics, clear paths to profitability, and businesses that can stand on their own.
Customers are no longer loyal to just a brand name.
Traditional marketing playbooks do not work the way they used to.
The most successful brands in India were not the first to launch in their category.
Ideas get attention. Execution builds companies.
These insights build on earlier observations in october 2025 linkedin posts and inform my current decisions to prioritize retention, limit channel expansion, and re‑frame investor narratives toward unit economics.
