Ai In Education

From x.com/ariesnotebook

I am curious about how AI may change education, especially whether AI teachers will alter the role of human teachers and how AI tutors might help people learn.

On October 15, 2025, I commented that the situation I was responding to had also been true of business education “for a long long time.” The post does not make clear exactly what “This” referred to, or whether I was endorsing the broader claim that self-learning was now the only way forward.

On February 17, 2026, while quoting @mcuban, I described two types as “cooking” and “cooked.” @mcuban’s quoted post distinguished people who use LLMs to learn everything from people who use them so they do not have to learn anything. I did not explain what my labels mean or map either label to one of those two groups.

On February 15, 2025, I wrote that AI teachers were coming fast, said I was unsure of the implications, and wondered whether human teaching might evolve into a different role. I left the outcome open. I was quoting @PalmerLuckey, who asked what might happen in broader academia if there were clear scientific consensus that AI-assisted education delivered better outcomes than 3.8M teachers currently do; that was PalmerLuckey’s question, not my claim.

On April 1, 2025, I said spending 30 mins a day minimum with ChatGPT is a good use of time. I did not specify what to do during that time or give evidence for the recommendation.

On April 1, 2025, I said 1:1 tutoring is overpowered compared to other forms of learning and recommended spending more time learning with AI. I shared @eladgil’s post describing AI-based tutors as a big deal and associating 1:1 tutoring with a 2 sigma improvement in learning achievement. The post identified the source as Benjamin S. Bloom’s “The 2 Sigma Problem: The Search for Methods of Group Instruction as Effective as One-toOne Tutoring”; that quoted result was not a measurement I reported.

On April 12, 2025, I said 1-1 tutoring is exponentially better for learning, AI is infinitely patient, and everyone will be able to learn exponentially better. I expressed optimism about the future, but gave no evidence, timeframe, or details about the link I shared.
