In late September 2026 I shared a series of X posts covering market commentary, regulatory history, fund promotion and macro‑economic outlook. I introduced a new unit called “Sagan” worth 4 billion, noted US gasoline at $5 per gallon and Brent crude near $120 / bbl, and highlighted US Treasury yields and upcoming 8 % mortgages.
The US 30Y Note Yield rises above 5.60% for the first time since June 2002.
That’s another +36 basis points this month alone.
8% mortgages will arrive next week.
US 10 year yields are at 2002 levels.
The best one is a Sagan, which comes from his phrase Billions and Billions.
A sagan starts at 4 billion (2b+2b, the lowest that qualifies the phrase).
Housing loans will cost more in the US than India. Already petrol costs more there.
India's proposed reset of insurance distribution costs resembles the one China introduced in 2023.
The NSE came into being because the BSE was then controlled by a clique of brokers.
Regulatory powers since have changed so many things: brokers routinely pledged client securities to banks and took loans for themselves, companies didn't reveal enough or often misguided investors, the mutual fund industry had terrible practices (read about the US64 scandal) and so on, which have progressively been fixed by regulation.
The US is a different beast and India's a different beast - I'm very positive on the long term for India with a number of different levers working for us - we have much lower debt, we have manageable yields etc.
