In mid‑October 2026 I posted a series of X notes analysing RBI’s gold‑sale options and Indian housing‑loan interest distributions.
RBI holds 660 tons of gold. It will be cheaper and then rbi can always purchase the gold back when there is a redemption.
ETFs currently own about 120 tons of gold and are growing. It will reduce some physical import demand perhaps as etfs own about 120 tons of gold this far but it's growing.
85% of all loans by value now are between 7 and 9%. 15% are above.
In 2023, the ranges were more like 8 to 10%.
I concluded that selling gold to ETFs while retaining repurchase rights would lower systemic money supply, keep custodial control, and satisfy growing ETF demand.
