X Posts Authenticity October 2026

From x.com/davegerhardt

I posted a series of short X updates on 2026‑10‑14 that dug into why authenticity beats polished perfection in marketing and creator strategy.

  • Decision: Emphasize authenticity over polished perfection, because Dan Kennedy taught me audiences reject perfection and prefer honest flaw admission.
Email framing statement:
"people don’t want to get this message, so I need to soften the blow."

Y'all ain't real, that's y'all Achilles' heel.

Less ridiculous thumbnails and videos that don’t deliver on the promise. All for clicks.

you can tell it's me - not Claude.

My method for internalizing these lessons: 1. Watch the 8‑part Jay‑Z documentary with Rick Rubin and listen to the "4:44" track for truth‑telling cues. 2. Apply Dan Kennedy’s principle by explicitly acknowledging product flaws in copy. 3. Draft emails with the "soften the blow" framing. 4. Ask webinar participants if they would sacrifice an hour to attend, to gauge realistic attendance. 5. Compare LinkedIn post performance of my human‑written copy versus Claude‑generated drafts. 6. Replace pure view‑count KPIs with metrics like engagement quality, community growth, and conversion rates. These steps are captured in my X Posts Authenticity October 2026 workflow.

  • Decision: Shift creator optimization from pure reach (views) to alternative metrics like engagement quality, community growth, and conversion rates, because "strategies that used to work for creators aren’t working anymore" (quoting @jayclouse).
