Small Farms As Investments

From x.com/ariesnotebook

I think farms like the one described can be “actually dope businesses.” I was commenting on @shagbark_hick’s prospective small-farm plan, not describing a farm I own or a plan I have made.

@shagbark_hick was considering buying a few acres, deer-fencing the land, and planting nut trees. They said they had priced the plan out, believed they could afford it, and thought it would pay dividends better than the stock market; this was their expectation, not a reported investment result.

  • The quoted post described a $30k parcel of 7 acres with well-drained, deep black loam and no wetlands, and annual taxes of $140.
  • The quoted estimate added another $30k all-in for new Chestnut seedlings and fencing, based on local prices checked, for a total estimated planted cost of $60k. The captured text ends mid-sentence after “mys...”; it reports no purchase, planting, harvest, or actual financial return.
