I built an internal tool to download TikTok videos, and on January 2, 2025, I used it to download a video from my own account without a watermark. I shared the tool at https://t.co/HT4LH0D8qM and invited people who need TikTok downloads to use it.
On January 12, 2025, @ariesnotebook said they built a TikTok video downloader because they were tired of ads and pop-ups, and shared https://t.co/d2xiQsv4XB. I replied, “Here it is:” and supplied https://t.co/hkaNqViKam. The post does not establish what either shortened URL leads to; the downloader’s stated motivation and the first link belong to @ariesnotebook, not me.
My team and I download a lot of TikToks, and I find the spam and ads in available download tools annoying. The captured post did not name those tools or say what we planned to do about the problem.
In a separate January 2, 2025 reply, I advised @SalmanAliGC to bookmark something in a browser for easy access. The reply does not identify what “it” referred to, so I cannot tell whether it was the TikTok downloader.
