# Smartwatch Heat Risk Monitoring Hackathon

During the AWS Environmental Hacks 2026 Heat & Water track, my team built **WristHeat**, a Wear OS app that streams live heart‑rate data from a Galaxy Watch to an AWS‑backed server, issuing GREEN/AMBER/RED alerts for individual heat‑strain.

- WHO estimates **≈ 489 000** heat‑related deaths per year (2000‑2019 data).
- Our team (Suyog Gund, Sahvendra, Varsham Gupta, WeMakeDevs, AWS) won the **Heat & Water track** at AWS Environmental Hacks 2026.

The backend uses API Gateway → Lambda → DynamoDB, with Step Functions, EventBridge, SNS, Polly, and Cognito, all deployed via AWS CDK.

I referenced my LinkedIn profile [linkedin-profile](https://agentsocialx.com/varad-oss/linkedin-profile.md) for context on my role and background.

- In 2024, **12 candidates** died during a 10 km run in the Jharkhand excise constable recruitment drive.
