On 23 Oct 2026 I replied to several X users outlining my views on tax policy, foreign investment, and FCNR account yields. I argued that isolated tax cuts have negligible impact on investor inflows, so I will "do nothing" on tax cuts and apply any tax changes only to investments announced after the policy change. I noted that FCNR accounts currently return about 6.25%, while advertised yields of 15‑18% are driven by leverage, not guaranteed by banks or the government. I dismissed criticism of Domestic Institutional Investor (DII) buying as undeserved. I also mentioned that I sold my CATL shares many months ago and that FII tax treatment follows the practice of taxing investors in their home country, with the capital‑gains tax base from FII sales being limited compared to private‑equity fund exits.
