In early February 2025 I shared a series of LinkedIn posts that captured my thoughts on pricing, the booming Mumbai startup ecosystem, brand building fundamentals, and a deep‑dive case study of MetaShot, the cricket‑experience startup that blew up on Shark Tank India.
Pricing is not about cost—it is about perceived value.
Rs. 999 feels very different from Rs. 1001.
Mumbai funding increase: 154% jump.
Founders: Prince Thomas, Ranjit Behera, Ajith Sunny.
MetaShot not only secured an investment but received twice the amount they asked for.
MetaShot is Made in India, for the world.
Investors mentioned: Sauce.vc, Manu Chandra, Panthera Peak, Zoeb Ali Khan, Nikhil Bhandarkar.
From these observations I decided to adopt a perceived‑value pricing approach, target Indian households for MetaShot’s cricket‑at‑home experience, ask for a modest funding amount in pitches to provoke oversubscription, and brand the product with a proud “Made in India, for the world” narrative.
