I reflect on how the AI engineering field is shifting from merely using frameworks toward building and deploying end‑to‑end systems.
I believe that knowing how to build and deploy AI systems is becoming more important than simply knowing how to use AI frameworks.
The AI ecosystem is evolving extremely quickly.
Frameworks, libraries and models that are popular today might become less relevant tomorrow.
Someone who only knows how to use a particular framework may struggle when the underlying technology changes.
I would rather understand the fundamentals of transformers, inference, retrieval, model serving and system architecture.
Frameworks should accelerate engineering, not replace engineering knowledge.
I also believe that building ten small projects by following tutorials is less valuable than building one reasonably complete project where you understand every important design decision.
