# Inkling 2 Small

I noted Thinking Machines Lab’s release announcement for Inkling 2 Small, its second-generation model. The post describes a model aimed at autonomous work, coding, and vision, but says its weights have not yet been published.

Thinking Machines Lab released Inkling 2 Small on 5 November.

The model is described as a mixture-of-experts model with 594 billion total parameters, only 17 billion active per token, built for long-horizon autonomous work, coding and vision.

The post reports a score of 31 on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index, far above its predecessor.

The post reports 86.3% on SWEBench Pro (Hard).

For now the model runs only on the lab's Tinker platform, with closed weights.

Full weights are promised under Apache 2.0 next week, but only after external safety testing and red-teaming finish.

The post’s caveat is that these are the lab's own numbers, and the open release is a promise with a condition attached, not a date.

The post asks: Would you build on a model whose weights are promised but not yet published?
