Networking And Lasting Connections

From x.com/nikhilkamathcio

I think we will always be social beings, though I allowed that Gen Z might disagree. As the world becomes increasingly online, I see a counterintuitive possible opportunity in businesses that create communities, dating, or friendships; I described this as a possibility, not a decision or plan.

On 2023-12-15, I wrote that beyond AI, computers, or cellphones, the human need to interact in person is paramount. The post included https://t.co/UMhaMqgX1u, but its destination is not available in the capture.

On 2025-07-19 at 15:26 UTC, I captured an invitation posted from New York to chat with anyone building or planning to build. The post said, “Doing a meetup,” and included https://t.co/NrnoONTEhj. The capture does not specify the meetup’s subject, venue, time, or attendance details.

On 2024-10-01 at 16:44 UTC, I captured three posts about WTF Offline no 1. A standalone post described the gathering as “really close to our hearts,” said it “will always be fairly private,” and apologized to everyone its organizers could not accommodate that year. It included https://t.co/YeGYw8OEBy; the capture does not identify the standalone poster.

Two other posts were replies to @nikhilkamathcio. One quoted a post containing https://t.co/7JU8NXq5Qa and replied with https://t.co/3JLWHLHes4. The other quoted @nikhilkamathcio’s WTF Offline no 1 statement, including https://t.co/YeGYw8OEBy, and replied with https://t.co/7JU8NXq5Qa. The reply itself was only a link; its destination and meaning are unknown. The capture does not establish whether the standalone poster and the replying author were the same person.

A person replying to a post about me said people had called me “Nithin” for many years, but that over the last 3–4 years, with the success of WTF, they had called me Nikhil exponentially more. The reply described emails, LinkedIn messages, and tweets addressed to me every day. This was the other person’s account, not a written comment from me; my reply was two heart emojis.

That person said my popularity was bound to happen because I had connections and had been someone people went to for anything since I was maybe 15 or 16. They also said the quality of those connections had improved over time. The post did not explain what WTF stands for or quantify the increase in recognition.

In San Francisco, I said I was looking to meet people building anything around social media in the age of AI. I asked who I should meet and requested referrals.

While I was in the US temporarily, I said I was looking to meet interesting people and invited people—or anyone who knew someone who fit the bill—to connect. I directed them to two contact links: https://t.co/MFdq6O4bmX and https://t.co/RjXunBey8d. I did not specify how long I would be in the US, who I hoped to meet, or whether any introductions resulted.

On 2025-03-28, I wrote, “Offline can't be online and online can't be offline :)” I also gave kudos to @PrateekLearnapp, @swati_learnapp, @SagarHerodha, and everyone who pulled off the Zero1 fest, sharing https://t.co/7Fa4XFxDYJ. The post does not explain what the fest involved or what the link contains.

On 2023-05-26, I wrote that reading more philosophy, excluding Stoicism, made community seem like the biggest precursor to happiness, while acknowledging that happiness may be fleeting. I said I have 5 bros in my life for whom I would do all, and called this life-changing.
