In a post about Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva winning Brazil’s election, I observed that most of the BRICS seemed left-leaning. I suggested conditionally that left-leaning countries could be considered a step toward Socialism, and cautioned against forgetting the history of what happened to economies under socialism. I did not specify which BRICS members I meant or provide examples or evidence for the historical warning.

In a separate reply to @nikhilkamathcio, I alluded to an old saying about people who forget history, said I could not remember it, and called it good. The quoted post’s claims about Brazil, BRICS, and socialism belong to @nikhilkamathcio, not to my reply. The capture also includes the standalone name “Stephen Colbert,” but does not establish what it refers to.

I recalled a change in the national makeup of the top 20 global companies, citing Warren Buffett’s remarks at the 2021 Berkshire Hathaway Annual General Meeting: in 1989, 13 Japanese companies were among the top 20, while 13 American companies held those positions “now.” The post did not specify the year meant by “now” or provide ranking methodology; it credited Research @FinFloww and linked https://t.co/H2eWZ0HJZo.

I said Japan’s strengths in banking and technology remained, but did not translate well into market value. I also said Japan had cultural impact through Anime and Hello Kitty, but that its cultural impact had been subdued, with South Koreans taking over. I gave no supporting evidence for these assessments and linked https://t.co/AlaVbknOJ0.
