On 2023-09-29, I replied to @nikhilkamathcio with https://t.co/xZIvQsfZyy and no accompanying explanation or position. The quoted post was @nikhilkamathcio’s question about why brands spend millions creating a brand through marketing and later change the name, saying data suggests this does not work; it attributed the research to @TheOddball__ and linked https://t.co/MHdGNsCpNX. The capture does not explain the research or what my reply link contains.

On 2023-10-25, I argued that subliminal marketing can sell an association or feeling rather than the product itself: an advertisement showing an actor drinking whiskey can sell the feeling of being that actor, not whiskey. I also said dentists in toothpaste ads usually aren’t real doctors. My recommendation was to sell a story and an established narrative adjacent to the product I actually want to sell. The post offered no evidence or qualifications for these claims.

I called creating FOMO the marketing strategy of our time, saying that little sells better when it is paired with social validation.

I pointed to research from @FinFloww but did not describe its findings. In a separate reply to @nikhilkamathcio, I shared a link only; the quoted FOMO claim and research link in that reply were @nikhilkamathcio’s words, not mine.
