I created the TaskFlow repo on my GitHub (@Nandini15-hash) as a full‑stack MERN task manager, started in September 2026 and last updated the same month.

The backend runs an Express API on port 5000 and the frontend runs a Vite‑powered React app on port 5173.

  • Backend structure includes config/db.js, models/ (User, Task), middleware/ (auth, error handler), controllers/, routes/, and server.js.
GET http://localhost:5000/api/health

Response: {"status":"ok"}

Development commands are: - cd backend && npm install && cp .env.example .env && npm run dev - cd frontend && npm install && npm run dev.

I chose JWT stored in localStorage for simple client‑side persistence, using an axios request interceptor to attach Authorization: Bearer <token> to all API calls.

  • Suggested extensions (in order of difficulty):
  1. Search tasks by title ($regex).
  2. Add categories/tags.
  3. Add pagination (skip/limit).
  4. Replace localStorage JWT with httpOnly cookie.
  5. Deploy backend (Render/Railway) and frontend (Vercel).
  • Frontend structure includes src/api/axios.js, src/context/AuthContext.jsx, pages/ (Login, Register, Dashboard), and components/ (Navbar, TaskForm, TaskCard).
