Nodecraft What Works

From github.com

I documented what currently works in Nodecraft, the macOS‑only visual workflow editor.

  • Editor features: Canvas editor with autosave, undo/redo, command palette (⌘K), shortcuts, light/dark theme, and a guided "Debug me" example.
  • Node library: Python code, JSON transform, HTTP request, branch, filter list, text/HTML template, CSV, read/write file, SQLite query (confined to <data folder>/files), Ask Claude (credential key), List files, plugin nodes (see docs/node‑authoring.md).
  • Control flow: Branching by output ports, fail‑fast, cancel, opt‑in retries, run budgets, resume from failure.
  • Persistence: SQLite persistence, immutable versions, run history, live SSE events with recovery, pre‑migration backups.
  • Import/export: Preview available; credentials stored in the system keychain and masked in all results.
  • Templates (Workflows → More templates): Ready‑made workflows for daily GitHub report, bug triage, study notes → flashcards, daily habit tracker & weekly stats, weekly backup report, messy CSV cleaner, brief me on a repository, reading digest.
  • Triggers: Schedule‑based (every N minutes or daily at a time, only while Nodecraft is open) or private webhook address on the local machine.
  • Repository Explorer (R2): paste a GitHub URL (private repositories and 5,000 requests an hour with a token saved under GitHub access), press Show Nodes, browse the files at a pinned commit and read them in a read‑only editor.
  • Limits: Code‑node confinement uses macOS Seatbelt (deprecated, not a VM); no confinement on Linux/Windows yet. Notarization needs my Apple Developer account; no auto‑update, licensing, payment, or Windows/Linux builds. Schedules run only while the app is open; missed runs are not made up. No parallel execution, hosted mode, or Postgres support.
