My view on blockchain is conditional: it can be useful for particular coordination problems, but it is not automatically the right tool. I weigh the need for shared verification against whether a traditional database would work more efficiently, and I do not treat decentralisation or immutability as universal requirements.
I see blockchain as useful when multiple parties need to share and verify information without relying on a central authority.
Examples I give of blockchain use cases are supply chain traceability, cross-border payments and asset tokenisation.
I think blockchain is overhyped when a traditional database can do the job more efficiently.
I do not consider immutability absolute; I say it depends on a network's size, decentralisation and economic security.
I note that smaller networks can be vulnerable to attacks, including 51% attacks.
I believe not everything needs to be decentralised, and not every blockchain is truly immutable.
