OpenAI’s proprietary models processed data streams and hardware signatures to attribute the device to a specific employee who had planted it a few days earlier. Following these model‑based results, the matter was referred to the FBI, and agents and prosecutors acted quickly to make an arrest. The FBI’s investigation remains ongoing, and OpenAI will continue to cooperate.
