In late September 2026 I posted a series of X replies that covered my thoughts on cognitive decline, the limits of AI‑generated code, the growing importance of soft skills, performance measurements of the open‑source IDE px0, security hardening work, and a Cloudflare storage incident.

Cognitive decline is inevitable, so eventually, it is up to the individual how they choose to retain it.

AI can write the code.

What it cannot reliably do is decide what should be built, ask the uncomfortable question in the room, convince people to change direction, or notice that everyone is solving the wrong problem.

Soft skills are not really "soft" anymore.

With Minimap Off - 2.1ms median scroll frame; With Minimap On - 2.4ms median scroll frame.

Tested on 1000 files in a commit.

Residual data was found on 18 of 24 container placements and 20 of 22 underlying nodes.

Decision: exclude the minimap from px0 for now because it adds 0.2‑0.3 ms latency and forces full‑file loading.

Decision: ship LSP‑based "cmd+click" diff navigation.

Decision: prioritize security hardening (CSP, API, ReDoS).

Encouraged soft‑skill development as essential for engineer impact in an AI‑augmented world.
