# The Business Of Space

I follow space-related developments with curiosity, from connectivity and private ventures to how space activity can coexist with life on Earth. My posts include brief reactions and questions, and I distinguish my own views from announcements I quote.

On June 3, 2025, I said Elon Musk understands TAM exceptionally well, describing space as holding “infinite abundance” and adding that I was not hyperbolizing. Musk’s quoted claims were that SpaceX’s commercial revenue from space would exceed NASA’s entire budget the following year, and that SpaceX revenue “this year” would be about $15.5B, including about $1.1B from NASA. Those estimates and the projection were Musk’s, not figures I independently verified; the post did not name the years explicitly or give NASA’s total budget.

On September 11, 2025, I called Starlink “the ultimate winning product,” praising its promise of high-speed internet anywhere on Earth. I added, “Insane,” and included https://t.co/3j3tEKyq7W; the captured post does not provide details from the linked page.

On December 28, 2025, I wondered whether the main reason people are committing to a Moon base now is to put data centers there, or whether the Moon’s lower gravity might make launching rockets easier. The data-center idea made me think of the Death Star in Star Wars: I imagined the Moon might look that way if the future were extrapolated far enough. I ended by saying we should appreciate the Moon as it looks today. These were questions and speculation, not a report of confirmed plans or evidence.

On December 18, 2024, I called gaming on a private jet “pretty cool.” The post quoted @elonmusk describing a game of Path of Exile 2 as Arbiter of Ash over @Starlink while on an airplane, and claiming Starlink was good enough for real-time video games in the air. My comment does not establish that I had personally played a game on a private jet. The post included https://t.co/DEpRJYfU6y.

On April 22, 2025, I said I remembered @bridgitmendler from Disney Channel and called her fundraising “wild” and “Very cool.” Her quoted announcement said Northwood had raised a $30M Series A led by Alpine Space Ventures and @a16z, with Also Capital, Founders Fund, and Stepstone joining as major investors. Northwood said it aims to build the ground network for the industrialized space economy and would use the funding to expand into a 35,000 sqft manufacturing facility and deploy the first operational version of its global network of ground sites. The announcement gave no deployment schedule, facility location, network design, or funding allocation.

On May 21, 2025, I asked whether Starbase could get a hotel and said the situation was “really cool.” The quoted @StarbaseTX announcement said Starbase had become an incorporated city in Texas, with local governance in place, and expressed excitement about building the best city for the community. It did not say a hotel was planned, so my question remained open.

On May 25, 2025, I wrote, “Reaching for mars doesn’t mean ditching earth.” The post quoted @elonmusk explaining “multiplanetary” as life or consciousness on many planets, rather than moving from one planet to another, and describing it as “Not an exit plan.” My own statement was that reaching for Mars does not mean abandoning Earth.
