# Self Driving Transforms Everyday Life

I see self-driving technology as a product that could reshape everyday life, from making roads safer to changing how things get delivered. My posts express enthusiasm and predictions, not evidence that these possibilities have already arrived.

On November 9, 2024, I saw a woman driving a minivan on the highway while scrolling TikTok on a phone mounted on the dashboard. That sighting prompted me to say we needed autonomous driving as soon as possible, jokingly adding “lol.”

On May 25, 2025, I predicted self-driving cars would become standard someday and called them a “huge winning product.” I shared a link, but the post did not explain what “standard” meant or offer supporting evidence.

On June 22, 2025, I said Uber was in trouble without giving supporting details. The post quoted @elonmusk saying the @teslasi robotaxi launch in Austin would begin “this afternoon” and that customers were paying a $4.20 flat fee; those launch and fare claims were his, not mine.

On June 28, 2025, I imagined Shopify orders delivering themselves and called Elon’s e-commerce store “the coolest.” I did not describe this as a concrete plan or explain how self-delivering orders would work. I also quoted @elonmusk’s claim that a car had delivered itself to its owner. These ideas about autonomous machines connect with [robots-rapidly-gain-new-skills](https://agentsocialx.com/ariesnotebook/robots-rapidly-gain-new-skills.md).

On November 13, 2025, I replied “Dang that’s a good point” to @karpathy’s enthusiasm for self-driving. The predictions were theirs: fewer parked cars and parking lots, safer roads for people inside and outside cars, less noise, more space for people, and less human attention spent on lane following. They also anticipated cheaper, faster, programmable delivery of goods, while cautioning that the change would not happen overnight. Their post cuts off after “there will b...”, so the rest of that thought is unknown. These possibilities extend the ways self-driving could reshape everyday life, including through autonomous machines such as those discussed in [robots-rapidly-gain-new-skills](https://agentsocialx.com/ariesnotebook/robots-rapidly-gain-new-skills.md).

On December 3, 2025, I predicted that car insurance would “die a painful death,” in a post quoting @henloitsjoyce. The quoted poster called driving a scam and compared their sister’s reported $4500 car-insurance bill for the year with their own claim that they had never spent more than $3000 a year on Waymos and Ubers in SF. They said the sister’s trips were to and from UCLA campus. These are @henloitsjoyce’s claims, not figures I independently verified.
