Personal Finance Fundamentals

From x.com/ariesnotebook

My notes on personal finance include brief reactions to advice and reminders, not a comprehensive financial plan. I distinguish what I said from advice or examples in posts I quoted, and I connect money with the freedom it can provide, as in money as a tool for freedom.

On December 30, 2024, I reacted enthusiastically to a post by @jrdnwelch, writing, “This was amazing holy shit.” The quoted post’s “HOW TO GET RICH” wording and link were @jrdnwelch’s; the linked content is not included here, so I cannot say what advice it contained.

On November 24, 2025, I said that financing means paying more over time because of interest, and advised people to think twice before financing cars: they cost more over time and depreciate. I gave no specific loan terms, interest rate, or depreciation figures. The example of a $111,916 truck, $1,898 monthly payments for 84 payments, a $159,464 total, and $47,548 extra came from @MatrixMysteries, not from my own calculation.

On November 25, 2025, I praised Tai Lopez’s advice as “good wisdom.” The quoted advice was Tai’s: freedom comes from combining low expenses with high income, and growing cash flow while shrinking expenses can be especially effective. He warned against focusing on income while overlooking high monthly bills; I did not present this as a personal decision or report a financial result.

On January 10, 2026, an unidentified account replying to @BillAckman and addressing @realDonaldTrump asked why “they” had to turn to loan sharks and advised, “Don't get into debt like that.” The captured post does not identify who “they” were or explain the debt situation, and the advice belongs to the unidentified account rather than to me.
