At pre‑seed no founder has every answer. That is literally the point of this stage. If you had it all figured out you would already be scaling.

After 150+ investments the pattern is clear: the founders who earned my yes were comfortable enough to admit what they had not figured out yet. That is not weakness. That is the most underrated form of confidence I have seen in a room.

I trust founders who say "I don't know" more than founders with an answer for everything.

Saying that out loud is something 90% of founders cannot bring themselves to do.

After 150+ investments, the pattern is consistent.

30 minutes later, we have spent the whole meeting on a side road that was never important.

I observed that investors already know there is risk, but what truly matters is how deeply founders have thought about those risks.

Investors evaluate whether founders have thought about risks harder than we have.

Founders who cannot articulate their risks signal a lack of confidence, not done work, or hiding problems.

I move fastest on founders who clearly walk through their risks.

Investors who press founders to pretend everything is fine are not desirable.

I prioritize founders who can articulate risks because it shows self‑awareness, honesty, and pre‑emptive problem solving, and I avoid investors who demand a flawless façade.
