Personal And Household Robots

From x.com/aakarsh_y

I have observed that general‑purpose robots struggle with the fine, variable‑geometry tasks of making a bed, such as putting a pillow into its case and tucking sheets symmetrically under a mattress, especially when mattress and headboard thicknesses vary.

general purpose robots will take forever to put a pillow in the case, tuck bed sheets symmetrically under the mattress.

dealing with varying thickness of mattresses & headboards.

Who’s collecting the data on this?

I see the evolution from personal computers in the 1970s‑80s to a new wave of “personal roboting” in the 2020s‑30s as a natural continuation of user‑centric technology. By providing an abstracted instruction library, I aim to let anyone compose robot automation applications without deep low‑level programming.

Decision = Focus development on an abstraction layer (library of instructions) rather than exposing raw robot control APIs.

Reason = Mirrors the democratization of computing in the 1970s‑80s, lowering the barrier for non‑expert users to create custom robotic tasks.

Timeline = 1970s‑80s: Pioneered personal computing; 2020s‑30s: Pioneer personal roboting.

Vision = People will automate tasks on robotic platforms.
